Is there anyone that doesn’t enjoy a good party? Really—who does not want to relax for a few hours, let your figurative hair down, and have some fun? Certainly not anyone in the self storage industry (and yes the self storage industry does love a good party)!
The one question that many people often have when it comes to parties is the reason for throwing them. Some folks need a reason; some don’t. Either way it doesn’t hurt to have one, and coming up with one is something that people in the self storage industry are good at.
The good people at Access Self Storage in Lancaster, Texas, held a couple of parties, and they had a very good reason for doing so. Access Self Storage had been the setting for a recent episode of the A&E hit reality series Storage Wars: Texas. The episode was filmed back in August and aired a few weeks ago. To commemorate the event the company held a viewing party with the show projected on the wall of a local restaurant.
Like many self storage facilities, the good people at Access Self Storage took this as a chance to do more than just celebrate their personal success. The facility asked that people in attendance bring a toy to go to a child in need for Christmas. The company also pledged to donate $5 per toy as well to the Lancaster Outreach Center.
Of course it didn’t hurt that one of the personalities on the show, auctioneer Walt Cade, attended the party.
It is also not uncommon for self storage facilities to get involved in local, community parties. They are a great way for a facility to meet people in the community face to face and serve as an excellent marketing opportunity. When it involves going to certain events where good times are known to be had—like Oktober-fest—I doubt the facility has any trouble getting employees to go and represent the facility.
This past October the good people at Storage Post Self Storage in Yonkers, New York, had a booth at the Yonkers Community Garden October-Fest.
“Storage Post really encourages employees to take part in local events, which is why the Yonkers location partnered with the Greyston Foundation for the Community Garden October-Fest. We had a great time and enjoyed connecting with the community,” said Yonkers manager Kenneth McGuire .
