You’ve decided that you need a storage unit. You’ve decided the size and type of unit you need. You’ve checked prices and location. Ready to go? Not yet. Have you considered insurance?
Do you know whether or not the storage company you have chosen insures your contents? Do they offer insurance? Does your homeowners (or renters) insurance cover your items off site? And if so, what are their limits?
Here at the Brooksville Store Right office, we offer optional storage insurance. The costs are relatively inexpensive and it covers things like hurricane, fire, smoke, tornado and lightening damage etc. I am not a big fan of buying things you don’t need so check your home owners or renters policies to see if you are covered for off site storage. Shop around too and make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck.
Once you have decided on insurance, make sure you keep an inventory of your unit’s contents with pictures and receipts in the event you ever need to make a claim.
