The StoreRight Self Storage Christmas Story

Our very talented manager in Winter Haven, Eloise, wrote this. You read it the same way you’d read “The Night Before Christmas”. It’s really cute and clever! Very creative folks working at StoreRight Self Storage!

Twas the month before Christmas and I said to my Spouse.

We’re getting company, there’s no room in our house.

The closets are packed clear up to the ceiling,

What to do just had us reeling.

Perhaps to the garage, we could move it out there,

But when we opened the door, not a spot anywhere.

We searched the whole house to find vacant space,

Not under the bed, there just was no place.

I turned in a hurry to look somewhere else,

Then tripped over a box and tore my blouse.

Thoughts of our guests taking such a fall,

Was not very appealing at all.

When I picked myself up and turned on the light,

The answer was there on a magnet from StoreRight.

We knew in a minute what we had to do,

Call StoreRight and rent a unit or two.

The process was easy and quick as a wink,

And the prices were less than one would think.

The staff was so caring and wonderfully kind,

I soon would be leaving my clutter behind.

We started our cleanout with a bounce in our step,

The more we cleaned out, the greater our pep.

With visions of clothes actually hung in the closets,

More trips to the storage to make our deposits.

We wondered why we waited so long,

To make room for things where they belong.

Our joy and delight was heard in our chatter,

With each step we took up and down the ladder.

Before we knew it, the closets were clean,

We even found a few things, we’ve never seen.

We hurried to the garage to start on it next,

When on my phone came an urgent text.

T’was the neighbor next door who heard all the clatter.

And was on her way over to see what was the matter.

I stopped for a moment and shared our plan,

And while she was there, I sold her a fan.

We gave her the number for StoreRight to call,

It’s definitely the place for one and all.

She hurried off with lightning speed,

Our suggestion for storage she was going to heed.

We finished our clean out in a timely manner,

And decided to add this to our yearly planner.

No more clutter, just extra space,

We hosted our guests with elegant grace.

Our neighbor is happy her cleanout is done,

Says StoreRight Self Storage is number one.

Our lives are better for now we can share,

A house with no clutter anywhere.

So get into your car and go straight away,

To StoreRight Self Storage before the end of the day.

The people are friendly and you’ll get the deal,

StoreRight’s customer service is absolutely real.

Big News! StoreRight Lecanto is partnering with Yard Sale for the Troops!

I’m very pleased to announce that StoreRight SelfStorage in Lecanto has partnered with the Yard Sale for the Troops Organization. We are so excited to help out this most worthy cause!

Yard Sale for the Troops is a local organization based out of Howard’s Flea Market on Rte 19 in Homosassa. The purpose of the organization is to send much needed care packages to our American military servicemen and women stationed overseas. Yard Sale for the Troops has been sending care packages for the past four years.

The organization is run by Dorene Bettis. She accepts donations from the public at her booth at Howard’s Flea Market, then she sells the items and uses the proceeds to: 1. purchase toiletry and other items our troops need & have a hard time procuring while overseas. 2. to pay for the postage to mail each care package. It costs approximately $15 to mail each care package.

As of today, StoreRight SelfStorage, located on Rte 491 in Lecanto, is now a drop off spot for donations! Items may be dropped off at our office at 1227 S. Lecanto Hwy during our business hours of 8:30am til 5pm during the week, and 9am til 2pm on Saturday.

Yard Sale for the Troops accepts donations of household goods, tools, books, clothes….anything that may be sold at the booth at the flea market. Now, you can drop your donations off at Dorene’s booth OR at StoreRight! Whichever location is more convenient for you. StoreRight wants to make it easy for you to help our military!

Other ways you can help are by providing new items for the care packages, such as lip balm, toothpaste, wet wipes, playing cards, beef jerky, etc….Those items can be dropped off at StoreRight, too. Keep in mind, the average soldier can’t just make a quick trip to Wal-mart or CVS! I’m sure it must really lift their spirits to receive one of these care packages!

Call StoreRight at 352-527-9777 if you have any questions.

Storage

The word storage, according to Webster’s Dictionary, comes from the word store- to put aside for future use or for safe keeping. Thus, storage has been around for a long time. The Human Race has used storage in many ways and many places. When we buy a home, women look for storage inside the home- closets and cupboard space. Men look for storage space outside the home- garages, sheds and areas in the yard. Even kids check out storage space in their intended bedrooms- corners of the closet, under the bed, and even in the middle of the room. No matter who we are or where we live, we are a species that needs storage.

We need storage because we all have our own personal stuff that is important to us. Whether it be keepsakes or collectibles, too much furniture, or just stuff we think we may need one day. No matter the reason, the need for storage is part of our lives. We leave our cars parked outside of the garage in the heat, rain and even hurricanes so we can store everything else we cannot part with inside the garage. Our closets are stacked so full it sometimes becomes dangerous to open the door.

The solution to this need to store our stuff was answered by the building and growth of storage facilities. It was the perfect solution. We could keep everything that was near and dear to us or that we felt we may need one day and still have our closets, garages, etc. for the things that belong in them, like clothes and cars. Not only could we put our needed possessions into storage but we could also store our holiday decorations. This frees up even more space in our homes, which relieves us of clutter and gives us the feeling of a neater, more spacious abode . That, in turn, whether we realize it or not, actually gives us a feeling of accomplishment. It enables us to find what we are looking for in the closet or cupboard and we can even vacuum under the bed. We can park our cars in the gagrage, which is more protective and could lead to a longer life for our cars. It’s easier to keep our homes looking neater and cleaner.

In my opinion, storage is a needed and necessary part of living. Besides from the things already mentioned, we need storage when we move or have a catastrophic emergency such as a fire or flooding to name a few. There are many reasons why people need and use storage. I am sure there are many more than than those I have touched on. Whatever your reason for choosing to store your possessions in a storage facility, welcome to the club. We are all members and will all have a need to use a storage facility at least once in our lives.

I have been a storage facility manager for 13 years, so here’s a few tips to help make your storage experience easier when it’s your turn to rent a storage unit.

  1. Location – find a facility close to your home or that you drive by everyday.
  2. Management – talk to the staff – choose locations that have friendly, knowledgeable staff to help you.
  3. Size – don’t get a unit that is too small to save on cost and don’t get a unit that is too large for your needs. Management should be able to help you with this.
  4. Cleanliness and Security – if the facility looks clean as you enter the premises, chances are the units will be the same. Find a facility that has security and video monitoring.
  5. Pest Control – a must at storage facilities.
  6. Price – the lowest price may not always be the best price. It may be worth paying a few extra dollars a month for a unit at a facility that offers all of the above plus later gate access and rent specials.

Happy Storage!

Voting—Why not exercise your right?!?!?!

I heard a story that really upset me this week. My friend went to the Dept of Motor Vehicles. While there, he overheard a conversation between a 75 year old man and the DMV employee. The man was getting his license renewed, and it was easy to overhear the conversation because he was hard of hearing, and consequently the DMV employee had to raise her voice.

Anyway, during the license renewal process that everyone in the DMV heard that day, it came out that the man was not registered to vote, But not only was he not registered to vote right now, apparently he’s never voted ever in his whole life! My friend was appalled! So were all the other people in the DMV that were overhearing this. I couldn’t believe it!

No matter which party you’re aligned with, which candidate you believe, no matter what: how can you not vote ever?

When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to vote! It was one of those rites of passage, part of being an adult, like getting your drivers license, or getting your first checking account, your first mortgage payment. It’s part of growing up in America!

We are so fortunate to live in a country where our voices can be heard. And to not take advantage of your right to vote just blows my mind. If you don’t vote, you have no right to complain about anything!

Ok, I’m off my soapbox now.
